The European Union might “act quickly and firmly” in response to what it calls “unjustified” travel bans issued by the US against five Europeans involved in fighting online hate and misinformation, a European Commission spokesperson stated.

European Leaders Decry US Move as ‘Coercion’

European leaders including the French president charged Washington of “bullying and threats”, following the travel bans targeted individuals who have been at the heart of efforts to enact laws governing American tech companies.

“For too long, European activists have spearheaded organised efforts to coerce US companies to punish US perspectives they disagree with,” stated the US secretary of state online. “The current administration will not stand for such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”
